OPI Neons 2014 Sponged Nail Art Manicure

Today I have a sponged manicure using all of the OPI Neons that were just released.

All colours were randomly dabbed on using a make up sponge over a white base. These are easy nails to do, even if you have no nail art skills.

I have to say that the colours are much brighter in person. They really are neon shades! Always classic for summer. I am sure I will never get tired of neon.
Hope you enjoyed today's post :)

Julep Elisa swatch and review

Julep Elisa swatches for you today.

Elisa is a lavender creme with shimmer. Although the shimmer is VERY subtle. The formula was on the thicker side, so apply with caution. I used two medium coats for full coverage. This polish mostly self leveled and top coat took care of the rest.

Overall thoughts are that this is an okay polish. Nothing unique or spectacular. I tend to feel this way about most of my Juleps.

Hope you enjoyed the swatches.

Essie Resort Fling Swatch and Review

Resort Fling is a bit of an anomaly to me. It isn't a true jelly, crelly, or creme. To me it is a hybrid of all. I probably am making no sense, but I just don't know what to call it. I used four coats plus top coat in all the photos. This polish is very sheer and thin. I did two thin coats and two medium coats. The first coat was like applying tinted water almost. Happily, it did build. The end result looks great, but getting there seemed like a true challenge of patience.

When I look at it, I kind of think of a creamsicle. I do have a love/hate thing going on with this polish. Love the final look, but wish the formula was better. Typical for Essie, you're never really sure what type of formula you'll be working with.
Thank you for visiting today!

SquareHue Rio 05.14

SquareHue Passport Collection Rio May 2014

Ipanema is a mustard yellow with gold micro glitter. This had a really nice formula and I used three coats. No top coat. There is a bit of visible nail line in the photos, but in person they weren't as noticeable. I really liked this shade. Normally yellow anything isn't my thing, but I really liked the darker leaning shade.

Leblon is an emerald green metallic shimmer. Was quite streaky, as you can see. Wait a bit between coats or you may pull some of the previous coat off. Leveled nicely and full coverage in two coats. I love green, but couldn't get past the streaks.

Copacabana is a blue jelly full of holographic glitter. I have this shown with no undies. I used three coats for the pics. Of course, you could also layer this over a coordinating base. No issues with application for this one. The glitter spread nicely and the jelly base applied evenly.

So, overall I was happy with two out of the three polishes. Surprisingly the yellow was my favourite. Go figure. SquareHue is a monthly subscription and if you would like more information, please visit their website. $14.99 US plus shipping per month. Shipping costs differ per destination. Polish is 5 free and not tested on animals.
Thanks for popping by today! Hope to see you back soon.

Enchanted Polish Mercy

I'm sure everyone on the planet has already seen this polish. Can't help it, I need to show off my pretties.

Mercy is a lovely, dusty medium purple holographic polish. This was very close to being a one coater, but I did notice a few lighter areas, so I gave them all another thin coat. I also added top coat, but it dried to a high shine with out it. Like a lot of holo polishes it does run thick, but not enough to have any issues with application. Self leveled and no brush strokes.

The Enchanted site can be found HERE. I'm sure you are aware that Enchanted's are hard to come by. I suggest checking in with social media sites to find out about any potential restocks. I purchased this from Nail Polish Canada. Again, the restocks don't happen often. Good luck to you!

KBShimmer Teal Another Tail

With the weather getting better, I find myself breaking out some of my brighter shades. Today I have KBShimmer Teal Another Tail for you.

It's hard to describe this, there is a lot going on. It is a muted teal with a pink shift and micro holographic glitter. In certain lights I seemed to get a bit of a purple shift. I used two coats. I possibly could have used a third. There is just a touch of visible nail line. Applied easily with no issues. Photos are with top coat.

I really love this macro shot. You can really appreciate everything going on in the polish.

Dupe or Different - Lime Crime Milky Ways vs Color Club Look, Don't Tusk

Hi everyone. Happy Tuesday?

Today I have a comparison post for you. Lime Crime Milky Ways and Color Club Look, Don't Tusk.
As it turns out, they aren't as close to one another as I though they would be. Milky Ways is a touch on the creamier looking side opposed to the Color Club which I find to be a true ivory shade. For the photos I used two coats of each polish. The Lime Crime did have a few bubbles in it. The Lime Crime polishes tend to separate and since you have to give them a really good shake, I always end up with a few bubbles. I would roll them, but the shape of the bottle prevents that. Other then that, both the formulas are very similar. Both work well as bases for nail art. On there own, I find them a bit bland. In the pics I have Milky Ways on my index and ring fingers. Look, Don't Tusk is on my middle and pinky fingers.

Well, there you have it. They definitely aren't dupes! If you are looking for nail art bases, both of these are great. Of course, you will have a much easier time finding Color Club polishes. Lime Crime always seems to be on back order.
Thanks for the visit and I hope you enjoyed the post.

Gosh Polish Frosted Soft Coral textured polish

Today I have a new polish from Gosh for you. 07 Frosted Soft Coral. Not the most original name. Frosted sand look with a glittery matte finish.

I used two thin coats for complete coverage. Average dry time. Pebbly to the touch once it's dry. The glitter is a nice touch to this. I think it would be too plain without it. The polish does have a bit of a wrinkly look to it. No issues with application. Following photos show the polish with no top coat.

The next pics show Frosted Soft Coral with a coat of top coat. I used HK Girl. The polish really ate it up. Almost right away, you couldn't tell that a top coat had been applied. My guess is you would need at least three coats of top coat to smooth this out and leave it shiny.

And there you have it. I purchased this from a local drugstore. Shoppers Drug Mart. To be honest, I'm not sure where all this brand is carried. Sorry about that! Hope you have a great day.

Stamped jelly sandwich OPI and Lily Anna

This manicure was created with stamping in between a layer of jelly polish.

My polish is OPI Too Hot Pink To Hold Em. Stamping plate used was Lily Anna 04 with Konad white stamping polish. I started with two coats of polish followed by the stamping. Then I applied one more coat of the jelly polish.

I think this turned out okay. It is a fairly subtle design in person, but pretty. It is certainly easy enough to do, which is nice. Products can be found at Messy Mansion or Nail Polish Canada.

Dollish Polish Looking For My Mr. Big

A little bit of spring time holo goodness for you today. Now this isn't a new polish, but that doesn't mean it doesn't deserve some love!

Looking For My Mr. Big is a subtle pink/purple linear holographic. I'm afraid it's one of those polishes that you have to see in person to really appreciate. This polish is on the thin side, but is well pigmented. I used two coats, but you may choose to go for a third. Leveled perfectly and dried glossy. I really do love this polish. Photos taken in shade and indirect sun. Please excuse the dry cuticles. This was the last of a swatch day.

imPRESS press on nails review

PRESS SAMPLE

Today I have a review of imPRESS press-on nails from Broadway Nails. This product was received from influester for an honest review. My box contained two sets. A metallic pink called Control Freak and a lace pattern design named Holla. This post will feature Holla.

The directions on the package are easy to follow. There is nothing complicated about using these nails. Simply peel and stick. The problem I did run into is that they didn't fit my nails well. I have narrow, longish, curvy nails. To find a nail narrow enough, my natural nail just peaked out the tip. Also, because of the curve of my nail I had a noticeable gap at the sides of my nail between the real and the fake. I really didn't like that. Once I noticed this, I decided they wouldn't work for me and dragged my daughter into the nail world. All the pictures below are of her hands. This partnership worked quite well as her natural nails are short, so there were no issues trying to find a size that would cover completely.
She loves these. The design is right up her alley, and says they are very comfortable. Her only problem is that she isn't used to having long nails, so she is having to adjust to that a bit. And don't worry, she is 17, so don't think I'm being cruel and placing these on a toddler to try out ; )

This is the underside so you can see the length. They have a definite squavol shape.

And I didn't notice until I saw this picture that there is a very fine holographic shimmer on these. The thumb is also quite boxy in appearance. We had to use one that was just a touch too wide.

Overall, she was super excited to wear these. I, on the other hand, was not. Of course, I have long natural nails, so I don't feel the need to wear a fake set. But for someone like my daughter that has short nails, I think this is a great option. Suggested retail is $8.99 for colours and $10.99 for patterns. Available at Walmart, Target, London Drugs, Jean Coutu, Katz, Loblaws, and more.
